God gave rebellious Israel numerous opportunities to listen to Him after they came out of Egypt. Jeremiah pleaded with them to repent and return to God, Jer 25:3-7. They continued to rebel.
The consequence was that God allowed Israel to become captives, Jer 25:8-11. This was a form of discipline.
The purpose was to wake them up to their problem and motivate them to return to a place of blessing in a right relationship with Him, Pro 3:11-12.
As a leader:
- Are you listening to God? If not, what consequences are you suffering, Heb 12:7-11?
- Do you plead with those under your care to listen to God?
